The degree of color separation (granulation) can vary depending on the quality of paper used. The amount of water used also affects how strongly your colors granulate – you can achieve stronger color changes by dissolving the colors in plenty of water and mixing them on a palette before painting. So use plenty of water to create a strong granular effect. The effect is also affected by the type of water, its amount and hardness.

Instructions for use: If the ink in the unused state has stiffened in the jar, it can be softened to a fluid consistency by stirring with a stick, for example. Water can be added to achieve the desired consistency. Protect the ink from drying out by securely closing the cap. Store at room temperature and avoid direct sunlight.

Nan King Indian Ink contains lightfast pigment and is bound with shellac, which makes the ink waterproof and slightly glossy once dried.
It can be used straight from the bottle or diluted with water. For best results, use distilled water when diluting.
Tools can be cleaned with water. If the ink dries on tools, denatured alcohol and soapy water can be used to dissolve the color.
The ink is durable and suitable for archiving purposes.
