Adds fluidity and transparency. Leaves brush marks visible. Made from safflower oil and alkyd. Non-toxic, contains no Gamsol or other solvents.
Thickened linseed oil for oil paints. Makes the paint more fluid, increases gloss, and shortens the drying time. Mixed with Gamsol thinner, it creates a traditional, slow-drying, tacky painting medium. Use sparingly when used as is to avoid a wrinkled surface.

Talens Bleached Linseed Oil
Available in 75ml and 250ml bottles.
The same oil with the same properties as refined linseed oil, but bleached. Dries by oxidation, increases the gloss of the colour and extends the drying time, thins the colour and blurs brush marks.
The oil should only be used thinned and very sparingly. Using too much oil will cause the colour film to wrinkle and become noticeably darker. Linseed oil should not be added to white or white-dyed colours, or to light blues, such as sky blue and cobalt blue, because the yellowing of the oil will adversely affect the color. If the work is stored in the dark, it will yellow strongly, but the yellowing will disappear again in daylight.

Talens Glazing Medium 086
Increases the fluidity and shine of the color, and smooths brush strokes. Glazing medium is best for painting thin, translucent layers. It does not yellow or darken with age.

Talens purified linseed oil
Available in 75ml and 250ml bottles.
Light-toned, purified linseed oil, cold-pressed from linseed. Contains no vegetable glue or other impurities. Dries by oxidation, increases the gloss of the colour and extends the drying time, thins the colour and blurs brush marks.
The oil should only be used diluted and very sparingly. Using too much oil will cause the colour film to wrinkle and become noticeably darker. Linseed oil should not be added to white or white-folded colors, or to light blues, such as sky and cobalt blue, because the yellowing of the oil will adversely affect the colour. If the work is stored in the dark, it will yellow strongly, but the yellowing will disappear again in daylight.

Retouch or intermediate varnish can be used to brighten areas of an unfinished oil painting that have become dull (which can occur if the oil in the paint absorbs into the underlying layers). Apply a thin layer of retouch varnish to the dull area when the paint is touch-dry, and allow it to dry until the varnish is also touch-dry. After this, painting can continue on top of the intermediate varnish.
Intermediate varnish can also be used as a protective, temporary isolation coat when the work is not yet fully dry. Apply it as a thin layer – a too thick layer may potentially soften the underlying paint layer. However, a thin layer of intermediate varnish does not prevent the paint from fully drying; it simply slows down the drying process. The intermediate varnish can later be removed (using mineral spirits or balsam turpentine) or a final picture varnish can be applied over it as desired.

Talens French turpentine (turpentine rectified)
The finest quality available. It is an excellent solvent for thinning oil paints, various painting mediums, and varnishes, as well as for cleaning brushes and tools.
When added to oil paints, it should only be used in the first paint layer. If used undiluted in subsequent layers, it can make the layer too thin and increase the risk of cracking. Turpentine thins oil paint, making it leaner and duller, easier to adhere to the surface, and reduces brush marks. Store turpentine in a sealed bottle and preferably in a dark place to prevent resinification.

A slow-drying painting medium, ideal for detailed work, glazes, and blending. It does not leave brushstrokes visible. Reduces paint viscosity, making it more fluid. Suitable for oiling out and enriching opaque areas. Does not yellow.

Drying oils reduce the thickness of oil paints and accelerate drying, resulting in a strong and durable film on the painting surface. Traditionally, three pure oils have been used as drying oils: linseed oil, poppy seed oil, and safflower oil.
